Series Resistive Circuits( Assignment)

Complete HW4 -- Series Resistive Circuits – (Grob's Basic Electronics text)

  • Work Problems 4-2 – 4-32, (Even problems only), pg. 129 -131
  • Work Problems 4-50 – 4-52, (Even problems only), pg. 134
  • Scan all work and save it for upload with the title: “HW4_StudentID”, with your student id substituted in the file name. Show all work for full credit.

Series Resistive Circuits (Lab)

  • Watch video “Module 4 – Series Resistive Circuits”
  1. For Laboratory Application Assignment on pg. 136 examine Fig. 4-50.
  2. Perform calculations for:
    1. Rt (total resistance of the circuit)
    2. I (total series current)
    3. V1 (voltage drop across R1)
    4. V2 (voltage drop across R2)
    5. V3 (voltage drop across R3)
    6. P1 (power dissipated in R1)
    7. P2 (power dissipated in R2)
    8. P3 (power dissipated in R3)
    9. Pt (total power dissipated by the series circuit)
  3. Scan all calculations showing all work in a file called “Lab4_Analysis_StudentID”.
  • Simulation:
  1. Construct the series circuit in Fig. 4-50 with MultiSIM.
  2. Measure the values:
    1. Rt (total resistance of the circuit)
    2. I (total series current)
    3. V1 (voltage drop across R1)
    4. V2 (voltage drop across R2)
    5. V3 (voltage drop across R3)
    6. P1 (power dissipated in R1)
    7. P2 (power dissipated in R2)

  3. Capture a screenshot of measured values and paste into a Word document entitled “Lab4_Simulation_StudentID
  4. Answer all questions in the “Series Circuit Characteristics” section on pg. 136 in this same document.
  5. Design Challenge section is not required.
