Photosynthesis consists of two basic steps - The Light Dependent Reactions and The Light Independent Reactions (Calvin Cycle).  Please describe the items needed for each step to occur and the items produced from each step.

Light Reaction needs sun, water, pigments, ADP+P and NADP. They produce ATP, NADPH and Oxygen.

The Light Reaction is a step of photosynthesis for absorbing light energy. This happen in the thylakoid membrane, it makes ATP and NADPH for the Calvin Cycle. Special pigments (Chlorophyll 1 and Chlorophyll 2) absorb light energy then passes the energy to the reaction center. Here the transfer of electrons occur, H20 splits into molecules of O2 and H+. O2 is released when we breath and the remaining H+ bonds with NADP+ producing NADPH. ATP is produced when ADP is added to +P. Then the NADPH and the ATP go on to the second part of photosynthesis called the Calvin Cycle.

 

The Calvin Cycle needs, ATP, NADPH and CO2. This process produces glucose.

In the Calvin Cycle ATP and NADPH are added to the Calvin Cycle. Here is goes through a complex reaction, but the basics is CO2 comes in and an enzyme called rubisco come together to produce RuBP, this combination is unstable so it turns into 3-PG. Then 3-PG get a phosphate from ATP, which turns into ADP and now the 3-PG turns into 3-biphosphoglycerate. The 3-Biph. receive an H+ from NADPH which turns into NADP+. The molecule then and there loose a phosphate group, which goes back to restoring the ADP into ATP. The resulting molecule is called G3P, which is final goal for the Calvin Cycle.

**The Calvin Cycle is a very complicated process to comprehend, I had to do much research and watch a few videos, but this is the best understanding I got from it. Hope this helps others!
