Project #60407 - BUSINESS Ethics Discussion week three

These are business ethics qiscussions questions no cover sheet is needed 100 word count  There are three questions please disregard the numbering just follow 1,2,3, please cite work used please apa format

1.Genesis 4:9 (NASV)  Then the Lord said to Cain, “Where is Abel your brother?”  And he said, “I do not know.  Am I my brother’s keeper?”

With his question to the Lord, Cain is indicating that he was not spiritually responsible for his brother.  This is a question we would do well to ask ourselves.  Do we have a responsibility to watch out for and care for one another?  Those who hold a narrow view of corporate responsibility advocate that business has no social responsibilities other than to maximize profits, and they support Cain’s way of thinking.  The rival position, however, is a broad view of corporate responsibility and advocates that business has obligations in addition to pursuing profits.

In addition to the maximization of profits, what, if any, do you believe are the moral obligations of today’s corporations?  Explain your answer.

2.

  1. What is the problem of "vanishing individual responsibility?"
  2. Briefly explain Milton Friedman's view of social responsibility.
  3. Explain the relevance of the concept of a fiduciary relationship to the debate over corporate social responsibility.
  4. 3.How are unions relevant to business ethics? Justify your answer.
  5. How is "just cause" and "due process" relevant to business ethics? Justify your answer.
