Project #61717 - Short Story Analysis

From the following readings from this week.

Edgar Allan Poe, The Cask of Amontillado

In a post of roughly 200 words analyze the narrator's voice in the piece. This question has two parts

1. What point of view(POV) is the story written in? How does it make a difference in the narration of the story? Does the POV change, or stay the same throughout the story? Look below at the description of POV. What is the dominant theme or message in the story? Why does it matter which POV is chosen? For instance, an author can use first person POV to create a greater intimacy with the audience. But third person allows an author to inhabit the inner thoughts of multiple characters. Think about the main theme in the story and why a certain POV was chosen.

2. Describe the narrator's presence in the story. Does the narrator have a strong voice? Or does the voice just remain in the background? Does the narrator comment on characters, or is the narrator nuetral? How does the style of narration shape our views on the piece? Is the narrator reliable or not?
