Project #67822 - journal article review

For this assignment you should summarize and critique an empirical journal article. The summary must be typed using 12-point Times New Roman font, double-spaced, and include 1-inch margins. You should use APA format and write the summary in paragraph form.

The summary must be written in your own words. Include responses to the following points:

  • Start with a brief summary of what the article is about.
  • According to the introduction, what information was already known about the topic? Look for references to previous research.
  • What was the general research question? What motivated the study (e.g. prior research, a practical problem, theory, etc.)?
  • What variables were studied? What were the hypotheses concerning these variables? How were the variables measured and/or manipulated?
  • Who were the participants? (e.g. How many? How were they recruited? Were there any special characteristics?)
  • What procedures, tasks, or instruments were used?
  • What were the main results? Were the results consistent with the hypotheses of the study and the literature described in the introduction? Were there any surprising or unexpected results.
  • How did the researcher interpret the results? Can you think of alternative interpretations? Did the authors discuss the limitations of the research? If so, what were they?
  • Did the authors give suggestions for future research or applications? Can you provide other suggestions?
