I started this essay with this, it is using the short story Everyday use by alice walker

In their Mama’s eyes

In the short story “Everyday use”, Alice Walker shows the importance of heritage and the relevance of understanding who you are as an individual.  It truly is not what material things you have that defines you as a person, but what’s in your heart that makes you who you are.  Rich or poor, educated or not, we are all people just trying make our way in this life.  This story illustrates how two sisters raised in the same household could not be any more different from one another.  Maggie is simple and shy, while Dee is stylish and outspoken.  Mama, who is the narrator of this tale, sees and knows the vast difference between her children.

How the girls are different and why

Mama’s role in their self-image

How their heritage defines them
