1. Global water cycle is the continuous movement of water between land, oceans, and atmosphere. Over the oceans evaporation exceeds precipitation. The result is a net movement of water vapor to clouds that are carried by winds from the oceans across the land. On land, precipitation exceeds evaporation and transpiration. Excess precipitation forms systems of surface water and groundwater, all of which flow back to the sea, completing the water cycle.

Human activity also affects the global water cycle in a number of ways. When tropical rain forest are being destroyed it interrupts atmospheric water that comes from the dense vegetation. Without the forests it changes the amount of water vapor in the air and alters local and global weather patterns. Drilling water wells and pumping large amounts of water to the surface to irrigate crops effects the water cycle by increasing the rate of evaporation over land. Also causes higher humidity and it depletes groundwater supplies.
Chemicals used on an agricultural field can find their way over hundreds of miles by stream and river currents that carry them into the ocean; which in turn contaminates the fish we eat
