1. Critically analyse the contexts shaping a health policy, using a country case study (other than the United Kingdom)

Your analysis should include the following:

- Social/geographical/political contexts of your selected country

- Identify a health issue and its related policy

- Discuss the implications for public health outcomes.

Marking Criteria.......The final assessment for this module will be marked using the criteria set out below. Please use this to guide your work as it will assist you in understanding your marks and achieving the grades you aspire to. Knowledge: Theory & Concepts 20% Demonstrates correct knowledge of ability to use and apply key theories and concepts. 0-39% does not use key concepts and theories, or uses them incorrectly 40-49% makes limited correct use of key concepts and theories 50-59% demonstrates basic knowledge of key concepts and theories and their application 60-69% shows thorough knowledge of concepts and theories and competent use of them 70-100% demonstrates in-depth knowledge of theories and concepts and utilises them in a sophisticated manner Structure & Organisation 20% Work is clearly organised and structured in a way which enhances the development of an argument. 0-39% little or no organisation of ideas or logical structure to the work 40-49% ideas are organised but tend to be listed as separate issues rather than structured into an argument 50-59% there is a basic structure to the work, but it is not organised with best effect for the argument 60-69% the work is well organised and has a clear structure which supports the overall argument 70-100% the work is very well organised and has a clear and purposeful structure which allows a sophisticated position to be developed Criticality & Analysis 20% Critical engagement and application is demonstrated alongside a thorough analytic engagement with the material. 0-39% no criticality or analysis 40-49% some attempt at criticality, but no overall analytic engagement with the material 50-59% limited critical engagement with the material and some attempt at analysis 60-69% consistent critical engagement with the material and significant analytical component 70-100% demonstrates consistent and original critical engagement and analysis throughout the work Originality 20% The work demonstrates original ideas and perspectives, putting forward new critiques and/or arguments in response to the question. 0-39% no original ideas or approaches 40-49% very limited efforts towards originality, relies heavily on repetition of standard approaches 50-59% some efforts at originality in terms of examples used, but overall reliant on standard approaches 60-69% demonstrates originality through examples used, and critiques and analysis of standard approaches 70-100% demonstrates high levels of originality through examples used, and developing an original position through critical engagement with the material Style 20% The work is written following academic convention in terms of language use, writing style, referencing and presentation. 0-39% work is poorly written, does not use academic language, referencing, concepts or structure 40-49% work shows limited engagement with academic conventions including language use, concepts, referencing and structure and includes a number of mistakes 50-59% work demonstrates all the basic academic writing conventions but with some mistakes 60-69% work complies with all academic writing conventions, with a good writing style, well referenced and structured and clear and correct use of concepts, quality indicates editing and proof-reading has taken place 70-100% work is presented as a professional and sophisticated academic piece of writing making good use of all academic conventions and is well edited and proofread
