watch three of the following videos and write a reflection that focuses on the themes presented in the videos and relates those themes to the issue of sexual respect and membership in a university community.  You may use the questions associated with the videos below to inspire your work or you may write a piece that reflects your own thoughts about the videos.   A qualifying reflection should be between 300 and 600 words in length. See below for important additional information and guidelines for your reflection.

  2. What do you think might make it easier for them (or you) to step in?

Re-thinking Sexual Assault Prevention in High School and College.

  1. Why does Kalin suggest that advocacy regarding the harms of sexual assault is not prevention?  Share why you agree or disagree.
  2. Kalin notes that you can change your audience if you change expectations.  What relevance does this have to our community?  What additional ideas do you have to further engage students in this conversation.

Words Speak louder than action

  1. Perera says that gender puts people in a box.  Reflect on your reaction to this idea on your reactions to Perera's discussions of it.
  2. Why for Perera do words speak louder than actions?
  3. What does Perera mean when he says that men are raised to be emotionally illiterate? Can you think of one way to combat this problem?
