While I did not know it was to this degree I did know most of this was going on, it is very sad and the truth for the world we live in. I do not think this system should be sustainable, a meeting of the minds needs to come about and come up with better solutions for all of this. Think about our pillows! I do believe that we all (as consumers) contribute to this system, the goal is to sell these products and if we are buying them then why should a factory or a business care about how they got the sell? If we cannot filter our purchases to more cleanly produced labels then why should anyone care? I have recently started trying to find businesses that actually support their workers and the communities and give charitable donations but don't publicize it. These are the companies that actually care about our safety and our business with them. As for my own behavior I notice that I don't recycle as much as I probably should, honestly because I don't have a second bin in my kitchen. I've noticed at other peoples homes that have a separate container in their kitchen I always recycle, I could easily go buy one and do what I can to help the environment.

POST2

I knew that a lot of natural resources are being destroyed and we were contributing to air pollution and climate change. After watching The Story of Stuff, it has opened my eyes to some angles of the system. I was unaware of that much waste we were producing. Also, I did not know the planned and perceived obsolescence that the system uses. I found it terrible that manufacturers design things to be trucked as soon as possible, even with the big stuffs like electronics. I believe this system is sustainable for now but I don’t think that it will be in the long run. This process is harming our natural resources and it’s going to affect us in the future. I feel guilty of this because most of the time I consume things and throw them away without even thinking about where my trash is going. I think by trying to keep goods for longer time, reuse and recycling will help make a positive change. Next time, when I go shopping and buy bottled water or cans, I’ll save empty bottles to reuse instead of trashing it. Also, I’ll keep in mind that if something I don’t need then I don’t buy it.
