The focus of dialogue is on critical thinking about assigned reading and how well you can engage in scholarly discourse with your colleagues. You are expected to use the discussion forums to show your understanding of, questions about, and application of the content of the reading. You may do this several ways:
a) Respond to discussions posed by the facilitator, referencing relevant concepts covered by the assigned reading.
b) Reflect upon specific questions sparked by concepts in the reading.
c) Challenge some basic assertion present in the reading.
d) Take a position based on the concepts in the reading and extrapolating from it.
These are not exhaustive examples. Whatever form of dialogue that will help your understanding and application of the readings will be appropriate. The instructor will use a combination of objective and subjective measures to determine the grade of the dialogue. Dialogue grading will consider the quality, timeliness, relevance and cogency of your posts.
