In week we will be reading and discussing POSCORB. This stands for Planning, Organizing, Staffing, Directing, Coordinating, Reporting, and Budgeting.
This week’s conference will involve picking one aspect of POSCORB and briefly define your choice. Next, explain why that topic is important, and discuss ways the topic interacts with other components of POSCORB. Discuss the importance of how they are related.
For example, if you discuss reporting you would want to briefly define it, but also explain why it is important, and how it relates to other areas, maybe such as budgeting and staffing. You don’t have to relate it to every other area, maybe just one or two. After we all discuss the various areas hopefully they will all overlap in our discussions. This should give us a good idea of how various components are dependent on others. You may want to consider if there are any differences in your topic if you were managing a large police agency compared to a small or medium sized agency.
I attatched a file for what this is about you can find POSCORB at part 3 and see the definitions for each. Choose whatever your comfortable with. I also attached some examples from my class.
