Project #7355 - Phase 3 db

Primary Task Response: Within the Discussion Board area, write 700 words that respond to the following questions with your thoughts, ideas, and comments. This will be the foundation for future discussions by your classmates. Be substantive and clear, and use examples to reinforce your ideas.

Reflect on the messages that you have been given about your intelligence—(e.g., bright, average, or slow labels based on school intelligence tests and other factors).

Using the course materials and Internet research, look at the concept of multiple intelligence postulated by Gardner. Then, consider the concepts of practical intelligence, analytical intelligence and creative intelligence, postulated by Robert Sternberg. Also, consider the idea of emotional intelligence (EI).

For this assignment, discuss intelligence, and be sure to include the following details:

  • How have you been labeled as a child or as an adult, and how has this impacted your identity and performance?
  • Based on the newer, broader definitions of intelligence, (such as Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences), assess your own strengths and weaknesses. Do these definitions change the way you see yourself now?
  • Do you believe there is a link between intelligence and career choice and success?
  • Given the debate about nature and nurture in developing intelligence, what do you think you can do to enhance or develop your capacities?
  • What can you do to maximize your intellectual capabilities (if you think this is possible)?
