     Please run a scatter plot for the two independent variables (IVs).  The IVs are Temperature and Humidity.  The dependent variable (DV) is “fuel economy” identified as MPG (miles per gallon). 

 

1.     Be sure to title each scatter plot. 

 

2.     Make sure you uncheck the box titled, “Plot linear regression line.”

 

3.     What are you conclusions based on each of the scatter plots? 

 

b.    Run a correlation analysis.  Be sure to include all three variables in your correlation matrix. 

 

1.     Discuss your findings.  For example, comment on the strength and direction of each IV with the DV. 

 

2.     In addition, discuss whether the IVs are correlated with each other. 

 

3.     What are your impressions after analyzing the correlation matrix? 

 

c.     Run two bivariate regression models. 

 

1.     In the first, use Temperature as the IV with MPG as the DV. 

 

2.     In the second, use Humidity as the IV with MPG as the DV.

 


  • Note:  In all cases, use a 90% CL. 

 

Be sure to follow Steps discussed in the SG and the PPT slides. 
For example, see the following suggestions:

 

1.     Be sure to state the null and alternate hypotheses for the full model.  Be sure to state your conclusion.  That is, do you have sufficient evidence to reject the null hypothesis? 

 

1.     the DV is explained by the regression model? 

 

2.     Finally, is the model of practical value to the client?  Defend your position.

 

 

 

Q2: Using the data set titled, “Q2_Sales Management Case,”
                        complete the appropriate data analysis.  You will complete a
                        similar analysis for this case as you did for Case #1 above. 

Be sure to follow the analysis steps.  

 

a.     Please note that the major difference between Q #1 and this  case is the number of IVs.  There are 4 in this case.  Thus, you will need to run a correlation analysis for all variables and a multivariate regression analysis for this case.  Be sure to read the explanatory notes included with the data. .

 

b.    Be sure to include all 4 IVs and the DV in your correlation matrix.  Be sure to discuss your findings concerning the relationship among the five variables (as noted above).

 

c.     You will also need to run a multivariate regression model that includes all 4 IVs.  Be sure to go through all of the steps required for the analysis.  For instance, once you get to Step 5, be sure to include a set of hypotheses for your analysis of the total model (Task 1). 

 

d.    If you pass Task 1, go on to Task 2, 3 and 4. 

 

e.     As in Case #1, be sure to answer the questions (1 through 3) as suggested at the bottom of the previous case. For example:

What is your final conclusion about the final regression model?  That is, what do you tell management? 

 

 

 

Note 1:  be sure to save all of your work with a title such as “(____ your last name) AA #5. 

 

Note 2:  make sure you attach all files required for grading when you submit your assignment. 
This includes: 
           1) your Word document with your discussion of each problem.
           2) your MegaStat output for Prob. 1 and,
