Project #74258 - Dealing with Invading Microbes

"We discussed the immune system in lecture.  We all looked a couple of slides (pages 13-15 of your lecture slides attached) where the steps in dealing with an invading microbe or microbes is outlined.

The slides on these pages are presented as pictures, and only deal with the innate immune system (first and second lines of defense).

What I'd like you to do is do this as a diagram, and include the entire system.

In other words list the things that happen from the time a pathogen gains access to the conclusion of the defense.

In this diagram include:

1.) The role of the first line of defense

2.) Second line's involvement

3.) Third line including B cells and T cells

4.) The antibody profile during and after the infection.

Be sure to include and assign a function to:

- Platelets,

- Compliment,

- Neutrophils,

- Basophils,

- Eosinophils,

- Lymphocytes.
