Project #75382 - Field Project (Interview).Religion

4-5 pages double spaced - Field Project!

Interview someone who is a practitioner of a religion significantly different than your own. This cannot be a friend or relative. Suspend all judgments and prejudices that you may have about this specific religious tradition. Explore and discover the interviewee’s beliefs and values. This should include their practices, festivals and rituals. You must consult sources other than your interviewee to see how he or she may differ from your research into this religious tradition. You should write an essay about this person. It can NOT be a transcript of your interview. An essay will have a point of view and be based upon data (from the interview and from your research). Your essay should be at least 4-5 pages, double-spaced, 12 point type, submitted as an attachment in Microsoft Word format.

MUST READ: GUIDELINES, EASY TO FOLLOW.

Common errors on this assignment are (1) over-personalizing the narrative (making it about yourself and your impressions and your life or religion) and (2) forgetting to use legitimate references in comparing your interviewee's description of the religion in question and what is said in your sources.

Two pieces of advice

First, if you are using the pronoun I frequently you are talking about yourself.  I do not care how you know the interviewee or what you did to set up the interview.  The only important information is about the interviewee and what information the interviewee gave you.  How you got the information or the questions you asked are not important.

Second, any reference you use MUST have an author and be something that you might find in a library as a primary source (no encyclopedias or dictionaries).  And certainly any internet source must use the citation guidelines we have established for internet sources.  Almost all .com internet sources are invalid or unreliable.  Any internet source that lacks an author and a publication date cannot be used.  There is an endless source of information to you through the internet but much of it cannot be validated as accurate.  Establishing that accuracy in a source is the purpose of our guidelines.
