Project #75419 - Socioautobiography Outline, Rough Draft and Final Paper

Requirements
description and requirements of the Socioautobiography paper (below)

For this assignment, you must include at least TWO citations from some academic source other than your textbook. Your external source can be a journal or a book printed by an academic press. Online sources, such as Wikipedia, are not acceptable. You should additionally use and cite your textbook, but it WILL NOT count as one of your required academic sources. Newspaper articles are not academic sources. Direct quotes need to be substantive, and should only be used when you cannot paraphrase that information without it losing some of its meaning. That is, do not include a quote defining socialization or values or some other term. Use the quote to support some argument you are making in your paper – why your value/belief is important, why your value/belief should be a guiding principle in a person’s life, how someone else viewed a similar value/belief, how some social theorist views your value, the social significance of your value or the global social event, how other Americans or people in other countries view your core value or global social event, etc.

The final paper will be 8 to 10 typed pages (page count does not include the bibliography or title page).

OUTLINE:

The purpose of this assignment is to begin outlining the structure of your Socioautobiography paper and to organize your information, experiences, and resources into a comprehensive map for your paper. You will organize elements of the Socioautobiography paper into a detailed outline. It will be helpful to review the assignment instructions for the Socioautobiography before working on your outline.

In particular, you should develop an ordered outline of major points and specific information to include in your paper, including (at a minimum):

  • the core value or belief you will analyze
  • your application of sociological concepts (e.g., agents of socialization, status, and so on)
  • your experiences and narratives
  • a global event
  • other social forces
  • information from academic resources

Organize your information into sections and sub-sections and begin detailing exactly how each social factor relates to the development of your core value or belief. It is good practice to have a topic (or topic sentence) identified for each section, sub-section, and paragraph of your paper. Be sure to focus each element of your paper on how it shaped, developed, or otherwise influenced your core value/belief. Include in-text citations for the resources you will cite in your paper in specific, relevant areas of your outline.

The outline should be 1 to 2 pages long, and your assignment should include a page of reference citations for resources you will include in your paper.
