Project #76105 - Three careers choices that you can obtain with a bachelor's degree in psychology

For this course you will write a Career Action Plan.  This assignment will be a written comprehensive roadmap to obtaining your desired career. It will help better prepare for your future as you map out the steps you will need to take and become knowledgeable about what is available for those with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. You will complete the following:

1. Research three career choices that you can obtain with a Bachelor’s degree in psychology.   Two of them are realistic and the third is a dream job.  The dream job is your preference for an ideal job for your career.  This could be a psychologist, homicide detective, FBI special agent etc.  You must use http://www.bls.gov/ooh/ in this assignment (see below).  Also, you must use an array of sources from journal articles, books, magazines, and personal interviews to find the criteria for these desired jobs.

2. Write an 8-10 page career action plan of how you will obtain all three of these jobs (and the necessary steps to get from point A to point B).  The paper is to be written in APA style and use in text citations as needed.  You will also have a reference page that must follow APA format.

3. You will need to describe the informal and formal criteria for these jobs (include your citations and sources for the information).  Remember that you can use personal interviews/phone calls to the particular agencies if you are unable to find job postings.  This plan is to be in chronological order of how you plan to meet the qualifications for these three jobs.  Keep in mind that many jobs only post the minimum hiring criteria, so you will need to state some things you plan to do so you are the most qualified candidate for the job (like taking extra foreign language courses).

4. You must also use information from the following two required resources:

a) Occupational Outlook is a guide to career information about hundreds of occupations:  http://www.bls.gov/ooh/ b) Bureau of Labor Statistics website provides education level, jobs, and opportunities by state: http://www.bls.gov/careeroutlook/2014/article/education-level-and-jobs.htm
