Critically evaluate challenges and benefits of a lean, green and global supply chain for the future. You are required to critically the interface of these strategies and explain how tensions or harmonies between these strategies could have an impact on the future of global supply chains. You are required to underpin your views using a wide variety of theories and strategies from academic journal articles and books. Furthermore, you are required to use examples from various industries (raw material supplier, manufacturer, distributor, and retailer) of your choice to support your arguments. The theories and strategies must be referred but not limited to those that have already been taught during this semester.
Think about role of cross-functionality and collaboration to promote Six Sigma, Lean, ISO9000 and TQM in supply network of raw material supplier, manufacturer, distributor, wholesaler and retailer.
Task 2 (Max 1000 Words) (40% Mark)
Critically evaluate the role of global supply chain management in boosting the economy of European and Asian markets. You must compare and contrast the approaches of these two markets in the global supply chain context. You are required to underpin your views using a wide variety of theories and strategies from academic journal articles and books. Furthermore, you are required to use examples from various industries (raw material supplier, manufacturer, distributor, and retailer) of your choice to support your arguments. The theories and strategies must be referred but not limited to those that have already been taught during this semester.
Consider if the local supply network is lean and green, or lean but not necessarily green or green but not necessarily lean; and why? Look at environmental factors against eight wastes in lean management.
10% of the marks are assigned to the executive summary (Max 500 words).
This is about an overall understanding about these two tasks. The integration of these two tasks in the summary is important. You are required to have a very good understanding of all of these questions to link them together in summary.
Please make sure you use a minimum of 30 references. Approximately 1 reference per 100 words.
Please, make sure you answer these 2 questions separately under a specific heading and explain the issues by using underpinning academic theories and examples for all of these questions. The executive summary will be a summary of your understanding covering all tasks.
In addressing and critically the case, you will need to consider global Supply Chain strategies such as (but not limited to):
- Supply Chain structure
-Purchasing and Strategic Procurement
- Six Sigma and TQM
-Lean and Agile Supply Chain
-Cross-functional activities and integration in SC
- Collaborative Supply Chain
-Food Supply Chain
-Quality Management in SC
Your assignment will be 2500 words in length report (plus or minus 10%) as follows:
Executive Summary 500 words
Remainder of report 2,000 words
It is important to write the 500 word executive summary as the overall summary of your understanding of the learning points to pinpoint the theories, SC strategies and actual requirements of all 2 questions in general.
Your report will include (at least) a title page, contents page, executive summary/abstract, introduction, findings/analysis, conclusions and references. You may also include an appendix for relevant supporting material but main arguments must be included in the body of the report. Your report must follow a standard report structure.
If the assignment is within +10% of the stated word limit no penalty will apply.
