Good evening scholars,

I am needing my discussion post completed; due date is 08/06/2015 (Thursday) by 6pm Pacific Time.

Here is the topic for the discussion question which needs to be a minimum of 1 paragraph (2 paragraph max)

“Review this article on browser-based operating systems ( http://www.techstagram.com/2013/09/19/8-cloud-os/ ). Provide some major similarities and differences between web browsers and operating systems. Do you believe that browsers will supplant operating systems in the future? Do you have a preference when it comes to operating systems? Justify your conclusions.

In responding to your classmates’ posts, discuss if you think there is a perfect operating system or what features would be needed to have the perfect operating system. “

Next, you will need to reply back to these user’s discussion posts as well (minimum of 1 paragraph) (2 paragraph max)

#1 (week 4 discussion-A.B)

I am traveling this week for work, flying to Chicago, so I figured I would get a head start on this weeks assignments...

If I said the words Operating System to you, what would be the first one that comes to mind?  For myself it will always be Windows as that is what I have been using since the first version of Windows 3.1 was released in 1992.  But many people out there are happy with using the MAC OS, which is used on all Apple products and for those that do not know it is the original GUI and was around before Windows.  But Cloud computing is the wave of the future as everything we do will be in the cloud.  Cloud browser OS' are simple tools that do not take up much space and provide a user the simplicity of doing the basics that are needed.  But I do not see that cloud OS' will become something that everyone siwtches too in the coming years as Windows, MAC OS, or even Linux are still the powerhouses on the market and it will be difficult to push them off the mountain.

In the corporate world Windows is king of the OS due to the fact that it is not tied to a specific brand or model computer, whereas MAC OS is only for Apple products.  If a company wanted to deploy 100 new computers, the company could put 2 or 3 computers in place for every single Macbook being that the cost is lower for Windows based machines.

I have used apple products and it is funny to see the similarities between MAC OS and Windows, but I will stick with Windows as that is what I know and prefer.  In my 22 years working in the IT world I have yet to come across of company that is strictly a MAC OS shop, but who knows what I might find in the next 22 years of my career.

#2 (operating systems-J.L)

I was raised on Windows and I don't foresee myself changing lanes anytime soon.  Microsoft has been a powerhouse with their operating systems for decades, although it landed them in trouble back in the 2000's.  Cloud OS looks too easy to compromise.  I can name a few celebrities off the top of my head that absolutely hate that word right now and I think online OS's are too risky for anything other than maybe social networking.  That promise of portability and clouds in the sky will quickly turn to fire and brimstone when your identity is stolen because you accessed an app next to some hackers hole in the wall.

For a business or professional work, Windows or Mac OS is the way to go, or maybe even some open source OS.  Any OS that doesn’t rely completely on the internet I should say.
