[If can't read this, look at the file attached] Background Indonesia is a middle-income country, with a GDP per capita of USD 2,676 in 2013. It is the largest economy in Southeast Asia and the fifteenth largest economy in the world. (Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, 2015). Indonesia has not adopted IFRS, but it has made a public commitment in support of moving towards IFRS. (IFRS Foundation, 2015). Required You are a recent accounting graduate working for the Indonesian Financial Accounting Standards Board (the “Board”). Your manager has asked you to prepare a report which is to be presented to the Board. This report should: a) Outline the primary benefits of Indonesia adopting IFRS; b) Outline the primary drawbacks of Indonesia adopting IFRS; and c) Advise the Board on whether Indonesia should continue with its current convergence process leading to an eventual adoption of IFRS, or whether it should stop the convergence process and focus on developing its own standards. Your assignment must be set out as a report with the three sections (a) (b) and (c) clearly shown. You must carry out independent research to complete the assignment and must cite relevant academic and practitioner articles that support the material and views you present. It is important to relate your discussion to Indonesia, not a generic country. Use Harvard style referencing. Sources you may consider using (but are not limited to) include: • www.iasb.org • www.iasplus.com • Materials published by the Big 4 accounting firms • Materials published by the professional bodies (i.e. Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand , CPA Australia) • Empirical accounting research Your report must be typed using 12 point font, 1.5 line spacing and 2.5cm margins on all sides, with a maximum length of 1000 (excluding executive summary, references and appendices). The executive summary is limited to 200 words. State the word count at the beginning of the assignment. Refer to the UTS Business School Guide to Writing Assignments (link below) on recommendations and suggestions on how to structure your report. All material (excluding executive summary, references and appendices) over 1000 words will be disregarded. http://www.uts.edu.au/current-students/business/study-and-assessment-resources/developing-your-academic-writing Marking guide Parts (a), (b) and (c) are each worth 10 marks. In addition, presentation and communication are worth 10 marks combined. Not adhering to the requirements of this assignment guide will result in reduction in marks. This gives a total mark of 40 for the report, which will be converted into a mark out of 10. Your report should address each of the questions posed equally. Attached is the marking scheme that will be used in marking your report. The report is worth 10% of your total subject marks. Submission date Your report is due on Monday the 17th of August, 2015 at 5pm. Assignments submitted after the due date may attract a penalty of 10% per day.
