Project #80043 - Term Paper Part 1: Accident Summary


This is the first part of your Course Term Paper Assignment. The Course Term Paper Assignment is cumulative throughout the semester and you will be adding to it as we move through Modules 1 through 10. The first part of the Assignment is to choose an accident from an approved list. The accidents on this approved list were instrumental in contributing to the movement to create and implement CRM training in the aviation industry.

  • Eastern Airlines Flight 401, Everglades, Florida
  • Pan Am 1736/ KLM 4805– Tenerife, Canary Islands
  • Air New Zealand Flight 901, Mt. Erebus, Antarctica
  • American Airlines Flight 191, Chicago, Illinois
  • TWA Flight 514, Mount Weather, Virginia
  • Alleghany Airlines Flight 736, Bradford, Pennsylvania


During this first part of the assignment, titled Part I – Accident Summary, you will be researching your chosen accident and then composing a short accident summary. During this portion of the Assignment, you will have an opportunity to research your accident from a “bird’s eye” view and understand the general events and contributors to the accident. As we move through the semester, you will be delving deeper into the details of the accident.

Your accident summary should be at minimum two paragraphs in length (each paragraph containing at least three sentences). The accident summary should provide the details (who, what, where, and when) of the accident. This should be a “cliff note” summary of the accident providing a big picture of the events and timeline of your chosen accident.

In addition to composing your summary, you must document the independent research that you have done utilizing American Psychological Association reference and citation format. You must cite all of the factual information that you include in your summary as well as concepts that are not your own unique, individual thoughts. You should include at minimum two references (in APA format) in the word processing document that you submit.


This is a written summary assignment of an approved accident. The student will be issued full credit for the assignment if he/she:

  • Completes the written summary by the due date and submits via
  • Provides a response equaling at minimum two paragraphs
  • Provides a comprehensive summary of the general events of the accident – who, what, where, when.
  • Includes citations to document unoriginal work and factual information
  • Includes at minimum two APA formatted references used in composing the summary
  • Document has no significant grammatical or spelling errors
