Project #81911 - Old Man and the Sea

Prompt:

Ernest Hemingway's The Old Man in the Sea chronicles Santiago's contest with the marlin as well as man's interior in the twilight years of his life. As the old man confronts the youth and power of the marlin, he simultaneously addresses his own waning agency (ability to act/create change) through his current experiences and pass recollections.

In a well-organized essay, analyze an aspect of Santiago's character that reflects an example of human nature and show how it contributes to the meaning of the work as a whole.
