Project #81929 - Interpersonal Communications - Misjudging

THIS IS A 300 WORD RESPONSE WITH PROVIDED QUESTIONS TO ANSWER, A VERY EASY ASSIGNMENT! THIS IS MIDDLE SCHOOL WORK. I AM LOOKING TO SPEND ABOUT $5.

Misjudging

In terms of interpersonal relationships, there are many things that can influence our perception of others. Have you ever misjudged someone?  Has someone ever misjudged you?  If you answered “yes” to either or both questions, this confirms that you are human. We cannot change the fact that we perceive people and situations based on our past experiences and interactions. However, we can make a conscious decision to not be too quick to judge someone before we genuinely get to know them for who they are.

Watch the following TED Talk titled “Immaculate Perception” by Jerry Kang: http://tedxtalks.ted.com/video/Immaculate-perception-Jerry-Kan

After you watch the presentation, write a report (300 words) that addresses the following questions:

  1. What types of automatic processing relate to attitude and stereotypes do you engage in?

  2. Do you think these ideas are conscious or subconscious? Explain.

  3. How can implicit biases impact you on a personal, family and career level?

  4. Do you agree with Kang that immaculate perception doesn’t exist? Explain.

  5. What are the pitfalls of perceiving people too quickly before getting to know them?
