Project #82360 - Composition 2

Assignment Option : Exploring Workplace and Community Perspectives

Following up on this week’s discussion topic, compose an essay exploring 2-3 perspectives surrounding a local debate in your work or living community.

Requirements:

  • Respectfully identify and explain each perspective involved. For example, a local community may have ongoing debates between city council members, homeowners, and business owners over zoning issues related to strip malls being built on pristine farmland at the edge of town while existing commercial buildings sit empty due to high rental rates. Several perspectives are at play in this debate.
  • Decide which perspective carries the most weight, and explain why.
  • Create a thesis that includes supporting ideas that will be used as level I headings.
  • Incorporate into your essay at least 2 rhetorical strategies of development from Chapter 13.
  • Use third person.
  • Cite at least two credible sources. One must be a scholarly journal article. Remember: Credible sources include scholarly journal articles accessed through the library; websites ending in .gov or .edu; and books by experts in the field. Popular periodicals, news articles, and websites ending in .com and .org are typically not considered appropriate for academic research.
  • Your written paper should be 2-3 pages in length not counting the title and reference pages, which you must include.
  • Your paper must be formatted according to CSU-Global Guide to Writing and APA Requirements.

Assignment Option: Exploring a Childhood Concept

In this assignment, you will explore a concept you formed as a child and have come to think about differently as an adult. For example, the concept of divorce can seem frightening and tragic when one is a child, but unavoidable, necessary, or even appealing when one is an adult.

Requirements:

  • Use third person.
  • Assert your academic voice.
  • Apply the questions listed in the section titled “How Do Writers Explore a Concept” in Chapter 7 ofEngaging Questions.
  • Compose a thesis that names the concept, followed by three aspects of it that will be explored and used as level I headings.

Sample thesis from the Chapter 7 reading: Seduction is bound tightly with what the French call plaisir—the art of creating and relishing pleasure of all kinds—through ritualattraction, and process.
