Project #82473 - Punishment, Justice & Reform

 QUESTION:

Criminal justice authorities in Australian jurisdictions have introduced electronic monitoring as a means of regulating the behavior of offenders without resorting to imprisonment. Prepare a power-point presentation (of up to 10 slides) with a 1500 word commentary that describes the intended operation of electronic monitoring in Australia, and critiques the use of this form of punishment from the perspectives covered in this course.

Criteria & Marking:

Your presentation should review the how principles of punishment underpin this form of punishment, and discuss them from a sociological perspective. As part of this process you will consider the strengths and limitations of such a response in relation to understandings of the offender and victim in the penological process.
