W + E Components
10% of final grade
Use Chapters 3, 6, and 9
Choose a specific product (not a service) that you have purchased recently (e.g., running shoes, a backpack, headphones). Write a 300- to 350-word review of your specific product on Amazon.com or another review site. If you choose a site other than Amazon, you must make sure the site allows site users to assign a helpfulness vote (for example, thumbs up or down) or, even better, a comment on your review. That is, you must make sure that feedback on your review is possible (though it’s not guaranteed).
Please pay attention to the following technicalities:
To complete this assignment successfully, you must be at least moderately satisfied (3 stars’ worth of satisfied) with the specific product that you choose.
To submit your review to Blackboard, copy and paste the content into a Word document.
To prove that you’ve uploaded your review to Amazon or another review site, include the URL for your review in your Word document or include a screenshot of the review in the Word document.
For the revision, turn on tracked changes before you begin to revise. Leave tracked changes on as you revise. Turn in your revision with tracked changes showing.
Your review should show that you have considered the review user’s needs and expectations. It should convey you-attitude. Your review should also do the following:
Describe the product’s ideal user (for example, in the case of running shoes, someone who runs 50 miles per week).
State the criteria that you used to evaluate the product (for example, durability).
Emphasize the positive characteristics of the product.
Minimize the product’s negative characteristics.
Eliminate any biased language.
Use white space and headings effectively. (Even within the limitations of the review site you can use white space and headings.)
Use correct spelling, punctuation, and capitalization.
Before you submit your review, use the assignment rubric to ensure that it achieves the assignment’s goals.
