Your assignment must reflect analysis and synthesis of the material presented in this course. All assignments MUST be typed and double-spaced, in APA style and must be written at graduate level English. 1. Adverse impact refers to when a selection method leads to a disproportionate percentage of people of a given group to be hired compared to another group. Assume that you are a human resources director of a large organization. You are interested in assessing whether a certain selection procedure is leading to adverse impact among minorities. If adverse impact is found to exist, what should the employer do?

 

2. Should a company spend thousands of dollars a year on a training program without trying to assess the effectiveness of the program? Explain why.

3. Let’s say you get a position following graduation with a company that asks you to evaluate whether or not a particular training program is worthwhile. Would you know where to start? Discuss how you would make that determination and consider the different components of training evaluation.

 

4. Think of a company that you work as a psychology therapist. What role (as an employee) expectations does your company have of you in terms of a) acceptable job performance; b) proper attire to wear to work; c) arrival and departure time each day? Briefly describe all of the roles you assume in your job (i.e., worker, team leader, liaison to other departments, etc.)

 

5. Imagine you are a Mental Health Director in a Psychology Clinic. List the top 5 task requirements of this job (keep in mind, this refers to things that you'd be required to do; they should be listed in a job description). Next think of the 5 behaviors that you might do that are not task requirements, but for the benefit of the organization (i.e., voluntarily joining committees). Then classify each behavior as either: altruism, conscientiousness, courtesy, sportsmanship, or civic virtue.
