Project #83705 - Research Paper

LENGTH: 6-8 pages.

One of the unspoken messages behind the material we are reading this semester is that the decision about how and what we eat affect more than just ourselves.  As the selections assembled make clear, our actions and choices as eaters are but one link in a much larger chain, one that connects us to countless fellow citizens in so many ways.

The Classical Argument allows you to explore and research an issue that is important to you, and in turn, use rhetorical appeals and your research to convince your audience that your view of the subject is validated and (in the best case scenario) the correct way to approach the problem you are exploring.  You will write a 6-8 page (5 and a half pages is not 6 pages, and the Works Cited page is included in the page count) thesis based, research oriented, closed-form argumentative essay focusing on an argument presented multiple ways within our course work’s texts that, in your view, makes the connection between food and society more explicit.

Your essay will take the form of an argument in which you assess the rhetorical effectiveness of a few pieces based on your analysis of the rhetorical appeals used to support the common theme you are highlighting between these works.  In addition to providing accurate analysis, you’ll need to demonstrate authority, as evidenced by your understanding of the subject matter material as well as your use of rhetorical appeals.
