Good evening to all you wonderful scholars,
Due date is 10/01/15 @ 7pm pacific time.
Here is the topic for the discussion question which needs to be a minimum of 1 paragraph (2 paragraph max)
Think of three everyday objects, things, places, people, etc. Describe some of the states and behaviors of these objects.
Comment on your classmates' objects with other objects their objects could interact with. What are those interactions? Could we develop an object-oriented program that recreates these interactions?
Next, you will need to reply back to these user’s discussion posts as well (minimum of 1 paragraph) (2 paragraph max)
Three items that come to mind would be;
Scanners- are used in different methods it can be used to locate, and price an item (Grocery Store), or it can be used to track packages (UPS, USPS, FedEX).
Tablets- can be used for entertainment, work or both. The tablet has different aspects; an individual can watch TV shows, movies, play games, and read books. If it’s for work the individual can check emails and complete work task based on the program that they have loaded.
Motor Vehicle- A car would not function without its ECU (Electronic Computer Unit); all communication takes place from the ECU. The moment something the check engine light comes on. A mechanic will check the ECU and get the code that is giving the error message.
The items mention are objects that are used personally or work related, and it all consist of coding in order for it to function period.
For me, my everyday objects are my GPS, IPhone and our new Crestron Audio-Video system installed in my office. These objects or devices help me get to my job (GPS), perform my job and provide entertainment and work related functions (IPhone and Crestron).
My GPS, is completely touchscreen running on the Windows CE operating system. As you touch on the screen, you can move from one menu to another. Enter in an address, change your routing, bypass traffic or look for points of interest.
The IPhone runs on the Apple IOS system. Everything you touch on the screen opens a new menu or runs a new application.
Our Crestron system is run on a touch panel. It controls our Audio / Video system including the TV’s, Satellite receiver and video conference. The software that runs on the touch panel is DMPS3 .AV Framework Project Software.
All of these devices require a form of an input whether to load a previous destination, to open your email or to select a channel to watch or connect to a video conference. It’s conceivable that the Crestron system could be programmed to turn on at a timed interval or to load a specific application based on a motion sensor. Your iPhone has a timer that could, trigger a specific action based on the time or a timed interval as well.
I have attached the grading rubric
If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to message me.
