11. A job pays a salary of $31,000 for the first year. During the next 16 years the salary increases by 8% each year. What is the total lifetime salary over the 17 year period?


12. Determine whether the following problem involves permutation or combination. A medical researcher needs 35 people to test the effectiveness of a drug. If 74 people have volunteered for the test, how many ways can 35 people be selected?
