Ital-TILE—a manufacture of tiles, is located in Milano and is a medium sized competitor in the ceramic tile and concrete tile market. The market is red-hot. Demand exceeds supply, due to the expansion of construction in the US and other markets. Ital-TILE can ship every piece of tile it manufactures, but their capacity is limited due to the number of production lines they have. Like its competitors, Ital-TILE operates 24/7.

 

Ital-TILE does not have the assets to purchase new machinery, rent a new facility or negotiate a bank loan so that they may make an acquisition. A strategy must be developed which will increase production capacity and allow them to enter foreign markets. Ital-TILE completed a plant expansion two years ago, and the new machinery is installed an operating at full capacity. The old machinery, which is still operable, is in storage.

 

As CEO  you have a real opportunity to gain market share and increase profitability if you can develop a strategy to increase production and enter new markets.
