Project #88326 - Capstone discussion reply

I , just need a brief reply for these two Capstone  discussion.

First discussion

Share with your classmates a quotation from or summary of one of your sources that have added to your knowledge or even surprised you."

My topic for this paper has to do with what kind of behavior can parents expect from their children as they reach their pre-school years and become involved in school activities. A child's behavior can be affected by how their minds are growing and changing as they are aging.  There was a quote early on in my reading that came to my attention because it makes total sense as I observe pre-school children: "We have determined, at least to our own satisfaction, that each age, like each boy or girl, has an individuality of its own.  Some ages are calm, others explosive" (Ames, pg 17-18). There is a distinct difference when I'm observing two year old, three year old, and a four year old children.  I never quite understood the term "terrible two's" because I see a good amount more of the "terrible three's".  These kids are building a sense of independence and with that comes emotional turmoil. That's all part of growing up and with pre-schooler's the way they react and how they are disciplined can make an impact in any environment they find themselves in.

Second discussion

My research topic is centered on how technology can be further integrated into senior citizen’s lives by their friends and loved ones.  In the standpoint of technology the elderly are viewed as the most difficult group to adapt with computers.  The quote that further added to the importance of my topic was regarding the population of senior citizens will grow even more in the future.  I did expect the population to grow with the advancement of medicine and health care however it was the amount that struck me at a surprise.  The quote states that there will be almost twice as many elderly Americans in 2050 as there are today and the United States is projected to age significantly over this period with 20 percent of its population age 65 and over by 2030. The number of people age 65 and older is projected to reach 83.7 million by 2050 compared with 43.1 million in 2012. (Health Day, 2015) That is why senior citizens should have a larger role in the development of technology as they are growing in numbers.  Since the country is heading more into a technologically-driven society, we need to help senior citizens adapt with technology in order to expedite the advancement of technology to further enhance their lives.
