Explain the role of African Americans between 1830-1861 in the sectional conflict as well as their role in the Civil War. Incorporate at least ten specific examples of how individuals and/or events in history had an impact on US history during these years. Using specific examples from lectures and assigned readings, explain the origins of the African slave trade and how slavery developed in the American Colonies. Also, explain how did slaves and free blacks in Colonial America challenged slavery. Your essay should be 5-7 paragraphs and use 5-7 specific examples such as slave revolts and the actions of prominent black individuals. Keep in mind that the question is dealing with the colonial period which ends when the US becomes an independent nation.
