There were a multitued of similarites between the two formed represenative factions of the Federalists and Anti-Federalists. The key things that the two factions tried to come to terms with were what was the best form of government for this new nation and what rights this government should protect, along with how these powers are given to.
The Anti-Federalists argued that the new nation would not survive with an new untested form of government and prefered altering the already in place laws of the colonies. The faction consisted mostly of farmers, or what we would now call blue collars, that prefered a local rule over that of a centralized power. Some Anti-Federalists would argue that the constitution was a step away from the democratic goals they fought for, giving too much power to so few. They prefered the many land owning farmers and workers to participaite in politics in their state for they beleived that the nation was too large.
The Federalists believed almost the opposite in many ways. They believed that a national government meant growth. They saw many different groups rather than just the farming class, or blue collared class, which would lead one to beleive that they had a better idea about the social changes and economics of the land. Federalists beleive that a large nation needs a federal government because it is necessary to perserve it. A weak union of states would leave the nation vulnerable both internally and externally. James Madison, along with many other of the framers of the Constitution, beleived a republic could consider true national interest rather than the interest of the "majority of the whole".
I agree with the Federalists that a united nation is more stable than seperate governed states. Yet from the Anti-Federalists side I believe in the focus of the individual citizen rather than the state being the differerntiation of a central power. I believe that both sides had ideas that were correct, however I think that the Anti-Federalist's idea of the Constitution weaking local states was incorrect. If I could go back in time I would inform the Anti-Federalists of individual state laws (such as with marijuana and marrige). **(it's peer rspones like you agree or not i gree which you like some thing lke that).**
