1. Case Summary:

Use your text and the internet to research the case of Gideon v. Wainwright. In a narrative format of 500 or more words, outline the case. Give the facts, issue, and court holding.

2. Case Analysis 1:

In a minimum of 300 words, discuss the 6th and 14th amendments to the United States Constitution, including what each Amendment provides and how they work together to protect a defendant's rights in state courts.

3. Case Analysis 2:

In a minimum of 100 words, discuss whether you believe the result in Gideon's first trial would have been different if an attorney had been appointed to represent him. Why or why not?

4. Executive Decisions:

If you were appointed as an attorney for Mr. Gideon, what would have been your advice if he wanted to represent himself? What would be your arguments to him to allow you to continue representing him? Minimum 200 words.
