The class project will consist of an 8 to 10 page (12 pt font, double-spaced) report on strategic decision making by a firm that is presented to the class at the end of the semester. You are encouraged to choose a firm that is an important market player facing a relatively recent or upcoming managerial issue.
The report will consist of 2 parts.
The first part will present an overview of the firm and its current business environment. This part of the paper will discuss the history of the firm, its organizational structure, objectives, products, customers, competitors, etc…, and should be 4 to 5 pages long.
The second part of the report will include an analysis of a selected management problem currently (or recently) faced by the firm using principles developed in the course as well as ideas and problem solving techniques you may have learned in other courses. Topics for this second part of the project may include vertical integration, pricing and other competitive strategies, management compensation, risk control, etc…
