Please review Chapter Seven in detail and watch the VIDEO CASE (Noodles & Co) posted on this module. Make sure to analyze each figure and table with diagrams and applications throughout the chapter. Post the following:
Create using a spreadsheet a FLOW PROCESS CHART based on the steps presented in the video NOODLES & CO. Reproduce the same format as per Figure 7.4. This chart lists the different steps of a business or a process. Also, include a column with the possible times (in seconds or minutes, for this case) for each step, similar to Figure 7.6. For instance, your process flow chart may start with:

The video provides a detail description of activities that involves action (operation), moving to other locations or to interact with others (movement), quality and receiving orders (inspection)... and the like. You will find the sequence of steps needed to serve the customer (a total of 5 minutes, according to the video) and estimate times in detail.
Chapter Eight explains and describes the different criteria and methods for facility location. One of these methods is Linear Programming (Chapter 19, page 838, Solving LP Models using MS Excel). I have attached (link below) and example of facility location using Linear Programming -the use of LP is optional in your application project. Examine this application and the different methods explained in Chapter Eight. Select one approach if you were asked to find a location for the next franchise in the area where you currently live describe this application, in one paragraph, and explain why; include your thoughts, briefly, about the LP example included in this module (below). Also, review the Site Selection Grows Up article on page 352. Respond to at least two postings from your classmates. For this week and to allow for additional time, your first post is due by Friday night.

Read Solving LP Models using MS Excel on page 838. Open the link below. Follow the steps explained in the book (page 838) or follow the INSTRUCTIONS posted on the spreadsheet below. Most spreadsheet may not have SOLVER activated. Try to interpret these results and play with the SOLVER application and this problem a couple of times to see how the data changes if you change the dollar figures (first set of data). You may decide to use LP for your project.
