Project #94610 - Organizational Communication

(I need a summary and a brief outline too)

Application Paper

Developing Your Professional Identity for the Contemporary Workplace

Your application paper should be approximately 5-6 pages in length (typed, double-spaced, 12-point font, 1-inch margins on all sides), excluding title pagereference page, and resume. Please number your pages in the upper right-hand corner. Please include a title page with the title of your paper, your name, this course number (COMM 303), instructor name, and semester (Fall 2014). You should use section headers in between each main section. Section headers should be centered and bolded.

You should use American Psychological Association (APA) guidelines for citing any sources used and for creating your reference list. If you are unsure of what APA guidelines are, please refer to the UW Parkside Library website, ‘Citation Help’ area.

you have different questions to answer (two questions for part one and two questions for part two), and you are NOT expected to relate your responses to each other across the different question areas. You do not need an introduction or conclusion. You should put a number and letter at the start of each response to indicate which question you are responding to. (Note: there are in total 4 parts to this paper, 1a, 1b, 2a, 2b. I recommend that you write about 1-1 ½ pages to adequately address each part.)

Part 1: Identity

One of the Communication Department’s Learning goals that this course is intended to address is Identity and specifically, in achieving this learning goal, students are expected to be able to “analyze and critique how human identity is constructed, reinforced, and transformed through the ways we communicate.”

For part 1 of your final paper, you are to analyze your professional identity as it is now and as you would like it to be shaped for the future. For this part, you will need to include your current resume (attach at the end of your paper or include as a separate file when you upload your paper to the Dropbox). (I'll upload my resume to you to use it. You need to consider that I havn't has a job before)

For part 1 of your final paper, please answer the following questions:

From this course, what have you learned about the relationship between identity and organizational communication? Please explicitly relate your response to concepts from at least two different chapters. You are also welcome to refer to examples from your earlier application papers.

How would you describe your desired professional identity? Please discuss this in terms in terms of career area (if applicable) and skills you want to apply in a work or other professional setting. Looking at your resume, please assess in what ways it does and in what ways it does not speak to your desired professional identity? What can you do in terms of either adjusting your resume or adjusting your background so that your resume is a better fit with your designed professional identity?

Part 2: Contexts

One of the Communication Department’s Learning goals that this course is intended to address is Contexts and specifically, in achieving this learning goal, students are expected to be able to “identify and practice multiple roles within groups and organizations.”

For part 2 of your final paper, please answer the following questions:

What have you learned about how to identify multiple roles within groups and organizations?

b) What have you learned about how to practice multiple roles within groups and organizations?

In answering the preceding questions, you should explicitly incorporate and cite specific concepts and theories from at least two different chapters from your text book. You are encouraged to explicitly refer to your earlier application papers as examples to show your ability to identify organizational roles and/or to practice specific organizational roles.
