Project #95943 - Theory of Planned Behavior on Poor Eating habits in Sophomore college students

Statement of the problem

a. Present a background of the main health outcome (select only 1 health outcome) to give your reader an  understanding of the health topic and why it is important (with 4+ journal references in APA format).

 b. Describe the specific population that you will be targeting and why this population specifically is in need of a behavioral intervention at USC (with 2+ journal references in APA format).

c. Specifically indicate the goal of your project in 1-2 clear sentences.

EXAMPLE FOR FOR PART A.

Poor eating habits on college students specifically targetting sophomores

Poor eating habits are an important public health issue that has large health and economic implications. Many food preferences are established early, but because people make more and more independent eating decisions as they move through adolescence, the transition to independent living during the university days is an important event. To study the phenomenon of food selection, the theory of planned behavior was applied to predict the likelihood of healthy eating among university students.

nearly two thirds of the adult population

in America is classified as overweight, it is important

to understand the role that the college environment may

play in this epidemic, and to consider institutional strategies

that might encourage college students to pursue

healthy exercise and eating habits and maintain healthy

body weight throughout college

 Promotion of healthy lifestyle

behaviors early in college may have long-term benefits

throughout adulthood that would serve to reduce the rising

incidence of physical inactivity, overweight, and obesity in

our society.

FOR PART B.

Specifically talking about sophomores.

 FOR PART C.

goals of project are: (you cna reword them and add more to it)

  • To understand the factors that influence fast food consumption and home cooked meals

  • To educate college students about how healthy eating influences eating behavior

    • eg. eating fast food regularly increases your craving for salty food

  • To eliminate misconceptions about fast food vs home cooked meals

    • eg. Quality, Taste, Efficiency, Price

  • To encourage college students to cook at home more frequently

  • To encourage mindful cooking

    • mindful cooking is a great opportunity for college students to train the mind to be present. It is also seen as a form of exercise for the mind, by being patient and focusing on each of the five senses.

  • To ensure them that eating healthy would make a difference and improve their performance in school.
