*Composer Reports Â
Located in the back of your Music Appreciation book, you will find a list of composers. You will choose one of those composers that you find interest in and do some background (researched) information on that composer. The length of the paper should be 11/2 to 2 pages long, typed, doubled spaced and 12-inch font. Your paper should include background (researched) information on the composer, one of its most famous works that include where, by whom and for what reason the piece was written as well as anything of historical importance associated with the works.  I would also like for you to include why and what inspired you to choose this composer. Your paper should include a works cited or bibliography page, citing where all of your information came from. Please make sure that all of your sources come from scholarly research bases. You cannot trust every internet website.    Â
Sources for research may be found in the TSU Library and online databases provided by the Library.  Grove's Dictionary of Music and Musicians, both in online and hardcopy forms, along with record jackets are good places to start looking for information. Please be forewarned: DO NOT COPY ANYTHING! (This includes down-loading and turning in the work of others.) Any evidence of plagiarism is cause for failure of the course.
If your paper does not include any of this information, points will be taken off. If it doesn’t include any of the required information, that will lead to failure on your paper.
Late papers will not be accepted.  A paper is not considered to be turned in until it has been put into the hand of the instructor or teaching assistant at the regularly scheduled class meeting.
