Next, you will need to reply back to this user’s discussion post as well (minimum of 1 paragraph) (2 paragraph max)
I hope you are having a good week so far!
This week we are discussing the most important people involved in the creation of the internet, the original purpose, and how it has evolved.
Since I am 49 years old, I have been around prior to the internet becoming an everyday tool for everyone. I can remember where in the not so far past we used dial up modems to access the internet, and you would have to wait a loooooong time to do really anything.
Back on topic, I will admit that up till now I have used the internet as a tool without too much of who created and developed it, so in my research this week, I wanted to talk about two individuals the first one being who I would consider the inventor of the internet and that would be Leonard Kleinrock, an MIT graduate, who developed the theories of sending information across the internet. (Banks, 2012)
The reason that it was created was to link together computers for defense, the first internet was actually known as ARPANET. (Banks, 2012)
The second person that I think made a significant contribution was a man named Sandy Trevor who worked for CompuServe in 1985, and developed a new feature for CompuServe users and that was a feature that was called CB Simulator, today we call it Chat. (Banks, 2012) What is so significant to me about this “Invention” was that it is not only used on computers – today “Chat” is utilized on phones, known more by its title “Texting”, and by some people (my daughters) is the preferred way of communicating.
Have a great remainder of the week!!
