Project #97259 - NON VIOLENT MOVEMENTS (POLITICS)

Final essay: Analyzing a nonviolent movement

In this essay, you should demonstrate your research capabilities by investigating the

impact of a nonviolent movement. In order to assess the movements success, you have to come up with criteria for its effectiveness and examine how the movement’s actions meet those criteria. You may draw the criteria from the movements stated goals, or infer it from its actions or consequences. Your essay should therefore also include a critical analysis of the movements activities, principles and strategies.

Your research paper should answer a question or a puzzle relating to the movement and answer it throughout the paper. The question should be interesting, important and

tractable. Make sure that the evidence you are gathering supports your arguments and pay attention to counter-evidence. Pay close attention to the reputation of your sources.

You paper has to cite at least three academic sources outside the required class sources.

They could be journal articles or books.

- Two useful online databases for social science journals that you can search are:

o Jstor: www.jstor.org

o Project MUSE: muse.jhu.edu

For news articles, the best option is to use Lexis Nexis.

The essay should be 6-7 pages and should not exceed 8 pages.

THIS PART IS WHAT THE ESSAY SHOULD BE ABOUT.

Final essay: Analyzing a nonviolent movement

Question: The loss of hope in the Venezuelan population for a change and how the corrupt and authoritarian regime of Venezuela has stopped every opportunity that the political opposition has had with the non-violent movements in making a change. What worked, what didn’t, and what could.

My criteria for evaluating this movement would have to be the comparison to successful movements and failed movements, that of course go along the lines of this movement. Also the actions that the movements has made, those including popular mistakes, successes, and also investigating how each leader influenced a certain part population more than another. I will also be using my own experience and those around me to demonstrate a short opinion.

I will be showcasing research from many well known sources including those we have to use that have researched corruption cases, voting fraud, and false media from the government to cover important happenings around the country in the middle of a crisis.

IT SHOULD COMPARE TO MOVEMENTS SUCH AS LIKE MARTIN LUTHER KING JR, AND TO MALCOLM X
