Project #97506 - Final essay worksheet

ESSAY PROMPT Compose an essay that identifies and discusses 5 authors (and their ideas) presented in the course who have been the most powerful and meaningful for you. Why did you select each and how have these authors and their ideas • Developed/impacted your thinking about organizational leadership; AND • Changed your behavior now and in the future? This is an essay about IMPACT, not a summary or review of the content of the course. You are writing about how your thinking and behavior has/will change because of these important ideas. Your essay must include: • Five (5) named authors (or author groups when a reading has been co-authored), but no more than one (1) blog author • Introduction and conclusion paragraphs • Works Cited page (you may cut and paste directly from the course syllabus) Format and Other Details • Write in the first person • Two page maximum – 1.5 or double-spaced with 1-inch margins in 12-point Times New Roman • Place your name, date, course and “Final Essay” in the upper right header, no title needed • Be careful to keep “stories” of personal experience to a minimum. Whereas in a journal you may have dedicated an entire paragraph to a story of your personal/work experience, in this essay you will need to keep such references to a sentence or two. • Be careful how you use direct quotes. Keep these to a minimum also. • Be careful to balance your coverage of authors. Too many students lose points when they have lengthy coverage of the first two or three authors and then run out of space for the final few. • We don’t do any pre-submission reading of essays, but would be happy to discuss your ideas with you in office hours once you can complete the Final Essay Worksheet (see Content on TED). • Do NOT include article titles as you write. Refer to authors by last name only in order to conserve space (If we have covered more than one work by an author whom you wish to include, you can write about any of their ideas.) • Feedback Code used for grading essays: A. depth, B. writing or editing, C. balance (between authors or too much personal experience/ storytelling), D. failure or inadequate response to the prompt, E. introduction (missing or weak), F. conclusion (missing or weak), G. length, H. format (including the Works Cited page). This code is used for deducting points. • This is a Turnitin submission (find the link in the “Final Exam” Content folder on TED) with a firm due date and time. LATE PAPERS WILL NOT BE GRADED. Final Essay / Mary McKay MGT 164 / Organizational Leadership • Build a habit of confirming accurate submission by looking for the email confirmation sent to you by Turnitin. This will include a submission ID that would be required if your paper was somehow lost by the system. Please note: This is the ONLY acceptable form of verification. Submit early and confirm submission before it is late.
